Muniz said he was impressed by the size of the event, which must gather about 5,000 professionals from the entire world, from December 2 to 6, in Brasilia. He also said he will analyze the possibility of Eletrobrás sponsoring the event.
During the meeting, the President of Eletrobrás said he is pleased with the company’s results: R$ 984,4 million in profit in the first two quarters of 2008, which is 1,089% higher compared to last year’s when the profit was R$ 82.2 mi. He also talked about new projects, like the Belo Monte Hydro Electric Complex, which will probably be bid next year. With Santo Antonio and Jirau hydro electric plants in Madeira River, around 30,000 MW will be added to the Brazilian electric system, ending the risk of rationing for good. Moreover, he proposed a larger participation of the Confea/ Crea System in the discussion of these projects in order to show society their importance.
At the end of the meeting, Túlio de Melo invited Muniz to present Eletrobrás’ investment programs in a Plenary Session at Confea.
