The Programme Committee selects the technical content of the Congress. The subjects of all events that make up   the WEC 2008, as well as its exhibitors, go through the scrutiny of this committee.

The Supervisory Board (SB – Supervisory Board) appoints the General Programme Committee, which is autonomous to put in place additional Programme Committees for different Technical Congresses (parallel sessions).

The Programme Committee(s) must be made up in such a manner that the scope of the matters be covered in all possible aspects. The participation of Brazilian specialists, as members of the Committee, should not exceed 50% of the total of members, which clearly defines its world-wide amplitude.
World-acknowledged specialists should be appointed for these Committees by the World Federation of Engineering Associations (WFEO/FMOI) and by the International Advisory Board.

Confea and Febrae appointed Professor Doctor Engineer Luiz Carlos Scavarda do Carmo as president of this Committee, which will function under the responsibility of  Febrae, with Confea´s full sponsorship.
Engineer Scavarda, in addition to being vice-president of one of the biggest Brazilian universities, the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC/Rio), has a wide international experience that qualifies him for the performance of this activity.
